Intern Partner of the Year – 2008-2009 – Richard Petty Driving Experience
Congratulations to Richard Petty Driving Experience for being named the 2008-2009 Belmont Abbey College Intern Partner of the Year.
Richard Petty Driving Experience has hosted numerous interns over the past three summers in several positions. Abbey interns have served as Management Program Interns where they worked in a rotational capacity through the various departments to learn the core of the business from all angles. Management Interns worked in the Call Center to learn the core of the business, and spent time in Marketing, Accounting, Corporate Operations, Human Resources, and On-Track Operations.
Other interns have served in the Marketing Department, Human Resources, Ticket Sales, and On-Track Operations.
Special recognition goes to Brian Flynn, CEO and Debbie Wetmore, Director of Human Resources for their management of the internship program.
Millsport and Belmont Abbey College
Millsport, a leading marketing agency in the motorsports industry, and Belmont Abbey College have forged a special working relationship to provide advanced Business education to Millsport employees and the placement of Abbey interns at Millsport.
In conjunction with our Business Department, BAC faculty taught Business courses on-site all Millsport with a culminating project of a sponsorship marketing case study for an imaginary start-up company called Monk Scent. Millsport employees conducted an in-depth product and marketing placement analysis for Monk Scent and presented their findings and pitched their sponsorship marketing ideas to a panel of leading industry representatives at Belmont Abbey College. Abbey Motorsports students attended the presentation and were able to ask questions of both Millsport and the panel participants.
Panel representatives included David Jessey (Gillette Evernham Motorsports), Pat Wood (Street & Smith’s Publications), Blake Davidson (NASCAR), David Safran (SPEED), and Mike Burch (Speedway Motorsports Inc).
Representatives from Millsport included Bruce Mosley, Mike Mooney, and Ken Cohn.
